THE SHOW

The World Dog Show is a FCI-sanctioned international dog show, which has been held yearly since 1971. FCI, or Federation Cynologique Internationale, is the World Canine Organisation. It includes 84 members and contract partners (one member per country).

The location of the World Dog Show changes every year; in -07 the show was held in Mexico, -08 in Sweden, last year in Slovakia and this year it was time for Denmark to organize this massive event.

And there was a lot to organize; the show was held on 24th-27th of June so the breeds were spread out on 4 days. The total number of entries was 19 354 dogs, from 54 different countries. During the show there was also World Championship for Junior Handling, Obedience, Heelwork to Music and an agility competition.

The breed with biggest entries was Golden Retriever (350), followed by Labrador Retriever (299) and French Bulldog (287). Obviously the highest number of entries came from Denmark, followed by Sweden, Norway, Finland and Germany. In total there were 345 different breeds entered, which were judged by 81 judges from 21 countries.

The titles that are available at the World Dog Shows are the following:

WORLD WINNER; the title is given to the best male/bitch in each breed, who wins the international certificate, CACIB.
JUNIOR WORLD WINNER: the title is given to the best male/bitch in each breed, who has gotten the price 'excellent' in junior class.
VETERAN WORLD WINNER: the title is given to the best male/bitch in each breed, who has gotten the price 'excellent' in veteran class.

THE SIBERIANS

Siberian Huskies were to be judged by a Danish judge, Mr. Henrik Soeborg. He is a Siberian husky -breeder; first between 1995-2006 with prefix Taymyr, and since 2006 with his current prefix Packice, which he now breeds both Siberian huskies and Alaskan Malamutes with.

Mr. Soeborg has been active in different dog clubs, such as a board-member & president in Danish Samoyed-club and president in the Danish Siberian Husky Club.

He is a judge for the entire FCI group 5; the Spitz and Primitive Types Group, and has rights to judge certain breeds also in the FCI group 7; Pointing Dogs.

Mr. Soeborg had gathered an entry of 118 siberian huskies to his ring. 11 puppies; 3 males and 8 bitches and 107 adults; 46 males, 61 bitches.

The collection of dogs was very international, as the Siberians that were present came from 22 different countries! The biggest number of entries were from Russia (16), followed by Italy (12) and Poland, Denmark and France (7 each). The furthest visitors came from USA and Cyprus.

The judging started with the puppies. Mr. Soeborg chose young Polish male, Zaltana Storm Starter (Winterfrost's Pegaso - Arktogea Emmanuelle) as his best male puppy. The BOB-puppy was the winner of the bitch puppies, Extravagance of Cool Water (Troubadour of Cool Water - Veni Vidi Vici of Cool Water), bred in France, residing also in Poland.

As there is a separate title for the dogs in junior-class, both male and bitch classes were big ones; 12 males and 14 bitches were competing of the JWW-10 -titles. The male winner came from France, Oumiak's Expected Value (Oumiak's Boogaboo Rockstar - Oumiak's Advance To Go), where as the junior bitches were won by the Norwegian Carillo Sing A Long (Carillo Silver Sky - Carillo Smart Cookie).

The winner of the Champion males came from Italy, the red & white Ch. Willoby Della Vanisella (Break Neck Della Vanisella - Five Minute More Della Vanisella). When choosing the best male, he was beaten by the open class winner, Ch. Winterfrost's Pegaso (Dennis de Garcimen - Winterfrost's Amber Ice); a Spanish bred male residing in Poland, who took both the CACIB and the WW-10 -title.

The Champion bitches were won by a German bitch; Ch. Hightower's See Here Is Little Frosty (Sirio de Ciukci - Hightowere's Fire And Ice). She finally gained the bitch CACIB and her new WW-10 title.

2 male and 2 bitch veterans were also shown and the male veterans were won by 9-year-old Ch. Taymyrs Special Effect (Carillo Silver Sky - Shapali's Ishtar Infatuation) from Denmark, who also was chosen as the BOB-veteran. The bitches were won by
Ch. Oh Sweet Victory of Nordica (Kristari's Happy Globetrotter - Love Me Do of Nordica), who also
got to take a new WVW-10 title back home to Hungary with her.

The Best Of Breed -competition ended to a victory of the male, Ch. Winterfrost's Pegaso, the best bitch, Ch. Hightower's See Here Is Little Frosty going BOS.

THE WINNERS

The BOB
winner Ch. Winterfrost's Pegaso was bred in Spain by Daniela Vidal and Antonio Llado and he is owned by Ewa Gorska and Jose Luis Gomez of the Winter Melody Siberians in Poland.

Both Ewa and Jose are thrilled about Pegaso's results from the WDS; it was truly an unforgettable day for the couple who actually met and eventually fell in love through Pegaso! Needless to say that this boy has a special place in their hearts.

Pegaso, or 'Muminek', as he's also called, will turn 5 this year and so far he has gained multiple Champion and Winner -titles, he was for example JWW-06. He has 10 BIS wins and 9 BIS placements and multiple group wins.

His owners describe him as a one of a kind -dog; self-confident, strong minded, proud leader of their pack. He is an important show and stud dog for Ewa's and Jose's kennel, but Pegaso don't mind babysitting puppies between the shows either.

The BOS, Ch. Hightower's See Here Is Little Frosti, 'Sidonia', has gotten her official name 'little Frosty', after her mother who was also called that and who Sidonia is very similar with. It's also worth mentioning that the same mother won the World Winner -title in 2002, so the similarities are surely there.

Sidonia's owner/breeder Guido Schäfer tells that her pedigree is about 50% Bain's Northern and 50% Arcticlight with a little bit of Innisfree.

She is now nearly 4 years old and has already won a couple of BIS in Germany with entries between 2000-+3000 dogs. She is also a multiple Champion, as was her mother Ch. Hightower's Fire And Ice. In 2001 Guido made a trip to Canada with her and for the future he is planning for a similar type of a journey with Sidonia. But first she'll concentrate on having her very first litter at the end of this year.
